Hi, my name is Shahira Razeed and I was born in Colombo, Sri Lanka. However I spent most of my childhood growing up in Zambia, which is in central Africa.
Later I moved to Toronto, Canada where I graduated with a Bachelor of Design with Honours from York University / Sheridan College Program in Design. I am currently married and live in Los Angeles, California. Art has been my one true passion in life, and I continue to pursue it through my work.
My passion for art spills over into my design work and I believe it gives me a creative advantage in what is, by nature, a highly technical field. I love to explore new, contemporary and cutting-edge styles that push the envelope of graphic design. Through mastering the latest technologies, I stay abreast of the ever-changing world of graphic design, more specifically in print Design. I have devoted my time to mastering the technical aspects of design such as the following programs, Adobe Illustrator CS2, Adobe Photoshop CS2, Adobe Indesign CS2, Quark-Xpress, and am familiar with programs such as Sound Edit, Flash & Fontographer.
I am a creative, dynamic, imaginative, inspired and dedicated individual. Having had the chance to live in different parts of the world, has really broadened my knowledge in all aspects of life. I have been able to embrace both traditional Eastern and Western cultures and I enjoy communicating this through my design!
I have been a freelance designer for 6 years and most of my work involves Poster design, Magazine & Editorial Design, Packaging, Brand and Corporate Identity, Information Design, Advertising and Typography. I have also had the opportunity to work in the advertising field, for LOWE LDB in Sri Lanka. This being a mulit-national Advertising Corporation, I got the opportunity to work with major clients such as Pizza Hut, Taj Hotels, Signal, Elephant House & Hallmark as a designer and Art Director. This strengthened my knowledge in Designer & Client relationships as well as Coporate Branding.
My goal is to continue to find new ways to merge the aesthetic beauty and diversity of art through visual communication.
